Wattpad HQ has announced that their fan convention will return this November with a one-day event in Los Angeles.
Wattcon 2022 Announced
Wattpad has announced the return of their Wattcon convention after several years following the event's last run in 2018. Wattcon 2022 is set for November 19th, 2022, at the Loews hotel in Hollywood, California. This year's event will be confined to one day instead of the previous two but, despite being shorter in duration, is touted to be "bigger and better than ever." The event will be both in-person in Los Angeles and streamed live online for remote attendees. Tickets are supposed to go on sale in July.
Happenings for 2022
Previous Wattcons have included advanced screenings of Wattpad adaptations and panels with popular Wattpad writers like Beth Reekles and Ali Novak. For this year, Wattpad has promised creator meet-and-greets, writing workshops, and discussion panels as part of the day, plus a new unexpected live Wattys "celebration".
Live Wattys Celebration
This year's Wattcon date also coincides with the announcement date for winners of The 2022 Watty Awards. Official promotional text says they will be "capping off the night with a live celebration of the Watty Awards," which is open for interpretation. The implication seems to be that they will be announcing the winners live as part of Wattcon.
